We built a new website for an Arabic-language research group in Leeds

The Challenge
TAFL Research had no single home for its growing projects, publications, and consultancy work. Dr Melissa Towler shared updates through scattered PDFs and email links, which made it hard for teachers, universities, and funders to grasp the full scope of her work. She needed a site that clearly stated the mission, presented current and past studies, and offered easy access to teaching resources while encouraging new partnerships.
The Solution
Waywest Design planned and launched a WordPress site in just three weeks. We mapped the content around six main sections, each written in plain language so busy educators can find what they need quickly. A searchable project library lets visitors filter by status, partner university, or funder, and every publication now sits in a single vault with summaries, citations, and direct download links. The lightweight theme scores over 95 in PageSpeed and passes all Core Web Vitals, while large text, clear colours, and keyboard-friendly navigation make the site usable on any device. After launch, a one-hour training call gave Dr Towler full confidence to add new studies without touching code.
The Results
Early feedback has been positive and we have handed the site over to Dr Towler, and she is now adding new projects, papers, and events on her own through the WordPress dashboard. With the build phase complete, our focus shifts to search optimisation and outreach so the research reaches a wider network of educators and policymakers.
The Feedback
“I’m really happy with the website that Jack produced for my company, TAFL Research. He designed both the logo and the website, and we had plenty of meetings throughout that were covered in the cost of the website. He also showed me how to update the website myself so I can easily update it. Highly recommend – thank you, Jack!”
